Cervical Cancer is transmitted through the Toilet, Really? - cervical cancer or cervical cancer is the number 2 disease most suffered by Indonesian women after breast cancer. Yep, this disease attacks many women at productive age, which is 35-64 years.
At least, there are 15,000 women in Indonesia who are infected with this disease every year. Then is this cancer contagious? How is the transmission? And how to prevent it? Come, see the following article.

The cause,
Cervical cancer is a type of cancer that can be transmitted. Yep, this disease is different from other types, because the cause is a virus. As many as 99% of the causes of disease are viruses, so they can be contagious. The virus in question is the Human Papilloma Virus (HPV).

HPV infection can cause damage to cells on the surface of the cervix and cause cancer. This virus infection does not have a specific mark. Even this virus can stay for dozens of years, until it shows symptoms of cancer. If symptoms have appeared, usually the stage of cancer is advanced and tends to be more difficult to cure.

Transmission of HPV through the toilet

Usually, the virus that causes this disease can be transmitted through sexual contact. Both men and women can be carriers ( carrier ) virus. Although this disease only attacks women.

Cases of HPV transmission through toilet use are very rare. But, that does not mean you can be free to use a dirty toilet, yes! Always keep the toilet clean to reduce transmission of other diseases.

Then what should I do, how to prevent it?

  • Get the HPV vaccine

Usually, this vaccine is given to young women ages 11-12 who have never had sex. This vaccine can be given to women who are already sexually active, but it needs to be ensured that there is no HPV virus developing in their bodies. If you have infected the HPV virus, then this vaccine will be in vain. This vaccine is given several times in stages according to age.

  • Perform routine early detection

There are several methods to detect this disease early . Usually in Indonesia using the method of Pap smear , IVA (Visual Inspection with Acetic Acid) or HPV DNA. You can do these three methods at the nearest laboratory (Pap smear, VIA, HPV DNA) or at the health center (Pap smear, IVA).

IVA has the most affordable price (IDR 10,000-25,000) or sometimes it is even free if done at the Puskesmas. Basically, the early detection method looks at the possibility of irregularities in the cervix. This disease can be easily prevented before it becomes cancerous. If this irregularity is overcome immediately, then someone will be free from this disease.

  • Loyal to one spouse

Transmission of HPV occurs during sexual intercourse, so someone with multiple partners will be more likely to contract HPV. A man who is not loyal, it is possible to transmit HPV to his wife at home, and vice versa.

Well, Healthy Friends, that's some brief description of cervical cancer . So, even though it is caused by a virus, this disease is not transmitted through toilets, yes! Even so, keep doing this disease prevention with HPV vaccine, routinely detect early, and maintain loyalty to partners.
